Water Hyacinth has become so prolific in Thailand that a large amount of public money was spent on its removal. In order to give a proper incentive for villagers along the rivers and lakes of Thailand to actively participate in clearing Water Hyacinth from blocked waterways, it was necessary to turn this weed into an income generating material.
